Would Lewis McGugan do a job the way our current tactics are?
From what i've seen we have battlers who can win the ball, keep the ball etc which is all well and good but the other side of football is you need to attack and try and score goals to win games, we don't seem either capable or willing to do either really , our attacks are almost half arsed efforts where we look lost once we see the opposition's box....Now, to me McGugan is the kind of player who does attack, he creates things and makes things happen - granted he hasn't had much chance to do so under Carlos but i can't help wondering what Lewis would do in this set-up.
With Lee out and us more or less playing our wingers as wide central midfielders would it hurt to throw him in for a couple of games in a free role so we can have Bannan sat further back, which to me seems to be what he's doing now, as well as being the go to man when we do attack.
I said about the Preston and Boro games that it was crying out for a McGugan type player to just get the ball and spray some passes/run at the oppo and give the opposition something different to think about rather than our customary tactics and most people actually agreed.
Just a thought but we look like we're just missing a bit of creativity yet we've a player more than capable (in my opinion) of doing that sat in the stands/at home.
Thoughts ?
