Shawlane aquaforce vs sheffield Wednesday

A few months ago a good friend of mine mr craig wood was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Craig was diagnosed in January, had his operation in February and started 3 months intensive chemo called BEP in march, he got the all clear beginning of June ( fantastic news) for him family and friends. The guys been through the wringer for a few months so I thought he deserved a bit of a treat.

Craig's a big Wednesday fan and has been all his life.

He's had season tickets, executive boxes and sponsored numerous games in the past.

Craig's now the chairman of shawlane aquaforce north counties east premier side. Being a big Wednesday fan the obvious choice of his teams colours is of his beloved sheffield Wednesday. Aquaforce play at shawlane cricket ground in barnsley.

Right, this is where you lot come in.

I got in touch with Nigel short off here, who's been through his personal hell with cancer and over come it, he's my new best mate by the way, even if he doesn't know it.

Nigel, with all his contacts has organised a charity game between aquaforce and sheffield Wednesday with all the proceeds going to Weston park hospital, all I'm asking is that you all try and attend, it is a worthy cause.

I know times are hard money wise at the minute but like I say it will all be going to Weston park, the entrance fee is £5 adults and £3 concessions, it kicks off at 7pm on the 8th of September, they'll be raffles and prizes on the night and you'll get to see some quality none league football with a few stars of the future from the Wednesday team (hopefully).we've bobby madley premier league ref in the middle and Scott ledger premier league linesman doing one of the lines with A nother yet to be announced.

Now I don't generally post serious threads or post over two sentences so excuse any mistakes with paragraphs, full stops, etc.

And no, this one ain't off.

Thanks for reading.

Hope to see you all there.

I can't attend, sorry.

Because it's you - I'll throw a couple of bob in. Because I actually sorry for the bloke - if you're one of his mates.

Can we have a donations link?

I'll see if I can find the wife's purse. Whilst she's asleep.

* all the best to him and good luck with this.

I will try and make this mate, my Missus Gran is undergoing chemotherapy there at the minute, and I reckon she will be in on those days.

A fiver is nothing to a cause that helps so many.

If I can't make it I will donate when a page gets set up.

All the best.

All the best.

My wife's Father was diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 85 - flipping 85.

He had surgery at Northern General - had a colostomy originally - then had it reversed when he was back to full health and all clear.

He had treatment at Weston Park too.

Completely back to full health now - he's 87 now and he telephoned me this morning. Like most days.

Unbelievable isn't it?

(He's a right bloody nuisance and the bain of my life - sick of hearing about the flipping Royal Engineers)

lol

I've not really done much, all credit here to a few people at the club, most notably Steven Haslam who has been absolutely brilliant.

Really looking forward to the game, be great to get a full ground
