Definitely a porkers version of our history, why start with them when we were founded first, makes it look like they've always had bigger attendances LOL. author Snorty Mcsue.

There’s a reason for that which I found out on a ground tour a couple of weeks ago. The reason is that we were constantly selling out Olive Grove and we needed to locate to accommodate our swelling attendances. There were two options for the move away from Olive Grove:

1. An expensive piece of land in Carbrook/Attercliffe with great transport links to the city centre

2. A dirt cheap piece of land in a sparsely populated area just outside Sheffield called Owlerton that had poor links to the city centre.

We chose Owlerton and our attendances dropped for a period of time. Apparently, the vast majority of our fans used to walk to and from the ground on match days until the city stated to sprawl and the transport network started to expand.

We had to move because of the expansion of the railway system.  Attendances weren't very different between the Olive Grove era and the early years at Owlerton although the glory hunters turned up when we were league champions in 1904!

From watching that video you wouldn't think that Wednesday are actually the most successful club in Yorkshire and 4 times champions of England whereas United won their only title when Queen Victoria was on the throne and the last trophy they won was before the invention of television.
