Thurnscoe_OWL
not seen this anywhere but appologies if I've missed it A Sheffield Wednesday supporter is putting his charity walk fate in the hands of football fans and needs our help!Steve Milne, from Chapeltown, is taking part in the Frontline Walk in October. This involves a walk along 100km of the Western Front, starting at the Lochnagar Crater in northern France on 7 October and finishing four days later at the Menin Gate, in Belgium.Where do we come in?Well, the keen Wednesdayite wants to wear his Owls shirt while taking part in the challenge! In his quest to raise as much as possible for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, there is a chance he may have to wear the shirt of our city rivals, Sheffield United instead. The 51-year-old has set up two rival fundraising pages – one for the Blades and one for the Owls!Whichever page raises the most will determine which shirt he will wear for the 100km walk.Joiner Steve, who was a member of the Territorial Army for more than 20 years, said:“I will be doing this to remember the local lads who stepped up and fought for their country during World War One.“To help me raise funds I am starting a bidding war between Owls and Blades supporters.“I will be doing the walk wearing either a Sheffield Wednesday or a Sheffield United shirt.“I will wear the shirt of the team with the most donations and have set up two rival fundraising pages.“Being a Sheffield Wednesday supporter, I really do not want to walk through France and Belgium wearing a Sheffield United shirt. It will be a real struggle to walk that far in it!â€During the walk Steve will remember the hundreds of men, many from Sheffield, from the Sheffield Pals Battalion who died at the Battle of the Somme. Many of the men who fought in the conflict went through their basic training at Bramall Lane.Steve said: “I left the TA about ten years ago and since then I’ve been doing a lot for charity.“This is my way of giving something back and remember those who have given their lives.â€To help ensure Steve wears his beloved Owls shirt, visit www.justgiving.com/sheffieldwednesday or text SWED60 and the amount you wish to donate (e.g. £1) to 700 70.Read more at http://www.swfc.co.uk/news/article/a-fellow-owl-needs-your-help-2674747.aspx#aDEgFKufAE26QigC.99 can't let him walk through Europe in that white abomination can we?
