roaminowl
Given that vat is a tax on the seller not the buyer and that ticket prices were announced at the start of the season for the season, I feel to see how they could increase the prices.....not that it's stopping other businesses increasing prices though using vat as the reason I'm not sure I follow your logic. If a business decides to sell an item for $1000 @ 17.5% VAT then the buyer pays $1175 ($175 goes to the taxman). If the VAT goes up to 20% then the buyer pays $1200 ($200 goes to the taxman). That's why the businesses are increasing prices. If they decide to keep the price at $1175 then they are effectively selling the item for $979.17 @ 20% VAT. They are taking a $20.83 hit to keep the price stable. Incidentally, the taxman also loses out because he is now only getting $195.83 instead of $200. P.S. Sorry about the dollar sign. I don't have a pound sign on my keyboard.
