LOCAL REF FOR BOXING DAY GAME

Saw the link below on the tranmere site on who was to ref the game at Tranmere on Boxing day (weather permitting) and when i did a little search was a bit surprised to see he was from Preston, in my mind a Tranmere v Preston game would constitute being as near a local derby apart from the Liverpool two as Tranmere can get.

Dont seem to remember us having many refs from lets say Nottingham for Home games, as i said just seems a bit too close for me.

The ref might be a Preston fan and hate Tranmere

If we had a ref from Leeds would you think "great he's bound to be biased in our favour" - or - "oh poo poo he probably hates us"?

I'm pretty sure preference won't have anything to do with it and the referee will do the unbiased job he's paid to do.

Not really that close.

Preston have no relationship, good or bad with Tranmere. Preston hate Burnley and Blackpool - they are closer to Bolton, Blackburn, Accrington, than Tranmere

As for local derbies for Tranmere: Try Chester, Wigan, Crewe, Wrexham,Southport, Bolton, Warrington - All are far closer

It pretty much equates with us and Lincoln

Preston is in Lancashire and Tranmere is on Merseyside, I'm sure there's a fair few miles between the two.
