Our group is by far the easiest on paper. No point worrying about the round of 16 if you’re not there, is it? Also factor in you’re playing someone from another group no matter what, the stronger the group, the easier the run to the final, really is a non-starter of an argument. The rationale being that if you get a strong 2nd seed, such as Spain for example, you have the wiggle room to lose to them and still progress whereas if you get them in the knockouts and lose you're off home at the round of 16. Having a strong group isn't always a bad thing, obviously if you get out of the group

If you finish second in any group, the round of 16 is likely to be against 1 of the following. Netherlands England France Argentina Spain/Germany Belgium Brazil Portugal/Uruguay/Ghana/South Korea Win it and you’re likely to face one of the following. Senegal/Ecuador/Qatar USA/Iran/Wales Saudi/Mexico/Poland Australia/Denmark Spain/Germany Croatia/Morocco Serbia/Switzerland/Cameroon Portugal/Uruguay/Ghana/South Korea There isn’t a rationale for having a tough group.
