Bannan's played maybe half his career as a left sided midfielder. Abdi played a considerable number of PL games as a wide midfielder. Be honest, they're both far superior in the centre and we also have players who are better than them out wide. There's no reason to ever start players out of position with our squad. I accept that circumstances may change things during a game but starting either of these two out wide is accomodating them with the squad we've got imo. Managers that try to over-complicate systems at this level risk coming unstuck because the players aren't up to it. Leicester, Burnley, Bournemouth.. all went up using 442. The system does not hinder - when played well. Why choose a different method our players can't handle? To accommodate Abdi? why sign a player for a reported 3m then don't play a system that suits? Abdi can play in a 442. There's no reason to bend our system to accommodate anyone.
