PolarNigel
What is this obsession with sending young players out on loan? If he said good enough, he's old enough.
shezzas left peg
It's just like in the real world today, we can't play him, is he old enough, can he do the job. Kids in normal life have the same problems getting a job these days. How do we know if we don't give the lad some game time. Stick him on the bench with one of the experienced strikers. Let him watch and learn pitch side and get first hand experience of what it's like out there in front of 30,000. If we're a couple of goals up with half hour to go, then give him a run out. We need to ease him in gently along with Preston and a couple of the other lads. If we send him out before he's ready and gets kicked all over in league 1/2 it may also cause him harm, championship is physical, but not quite as heavy duty. Big step to go from playing against kids, which is all Hirst has been doing up to this point, to suddenly find yourself up against quality, championship defenders, plenty of which have PL or international experience. Not saying it can't be done of course if the player is good enough, but why take the risk when we're not exactly struggling for options up front? Especially this year when Carlos will be under more pressure than ever to hit the ground running with the ambitions of the club at the moment, we can't afford to risk a slow start to the season because we're giving kids a chance, if anything that just piles more pressure on Hirst. Let them go and have their chance somewhere else, where they'll play more minutes than they would here, maybe score a few goals and get used to playing senior football, then bring them back if need be, it's a no lose situation for Wednesday. That said, if Hirst plays a few of the pre-season games and looks the part ( physically as much as in terms of ability ) then it's worth reconsidering Edited June 5, 2017 by Lee A
