Not being funny, but there is a band out there that are bigger than Jarvis Cocker, there is a band out there bigger than the Artctic Monkeys, there is a band out there bigger than Bon Jovi, in fact this band is bigger than life itself,

This band have played Brammall Lane so why not play Hillsborough? This band have been selling out stadiums for over twenty years, this band have released over 10 albums together with the latest going straight to number 1 in January.

With an introduction as long as this, It CAN only be one band.

This band is.......

The heart stopping, pants dropping, hard rocking, booty shaking, love making, Viagra taking, history making, legendary E Street Band

Springsteen at Hillsborough would be my pick!

Bigger than Bon jovi

lol

For those saying the council might have an issue with noise. The fairground in hillsborough park makes a right racket. As does the one in endcliffe park. Both residential areas. I can hear the noise from the endcliffe park fairground in my place when it's on.

Doesn't seem an issue with the council.

Boy zones played at hillsbro

No. But Westlife did.

Just the South Stand open for it.

It was a bonfire night if I remember correctly and there was a fireworks display... There were loads of complaints as no-one really saw the fireworks because they flew and exploded above the stand where everyone was sitting! :)

In seriousness though.

The possibility of having a big music event on has been explored several times in the past.

Other than considerations regarding maintaining the pitch (the correct covers and such are expensive, even to hire), I understand there would have to be an application to the council to license the event and SAG approval, which in a residential area like Hillsborough would have to be under an heavy curfew. It has always been a fairly difficult ask. I would guess that such an application would be more favourable now that Don Valley isn't available for such events.

One of the big things though is kitting the place out. To build the staging and rigging, etc, requires significant access for trucks and Hillsborough is TERRIBLE for truck access. The only real access into the 'bowl' area is via the North/Kop corner and if you look at it the bend to get from the Megastore car park, through the gates around the groundsman's hut/heating cylinder thing, under the structure of the North Stand and then sharp round to the gap between the North/Kop - its virtually impossible for large trucks to do. There were significant worries when some trucks were delivering the screens for the beambacks and those smaller trucks JUST made it through with LOTS of perseverance.

Look how tight it is (picture under that portion of the stand!)

It is something the club periodically look at though, so perhaps there will be ways of getting round it in future...

just been reading our local paper and it said that tom jones is doing at show at chesterfield fc this summer. with each ticket costing 75 to 250 quid and its a sellout.was thinking is this something we could do to raise of few funds.30000 Fans going crazy to elton john lol

I was going to suggest Def Leppard as being touted as a possible line up for any future gig at S6,But on the other hand the thought of Joe Elliott appearing at s6 fills me with dread seeing though he's a phooking Snortbeast. :ghoulguy:  :ghoulguy:

The Event has to be under "Heavy curfew".  How come the fairs at Both Endcliffe Park and Hillsborough park are able to run late ? Both in residential areas.

I would have thought the logical entrance would be at the West Stand / Lepping Lane end ?

A fair attracting a few hundred people per night is different from a full-blown concert attracting tens of thousands. Anyhow, park events all have to cease at 10pm in most cases, I understand. There's also differing rules for events which are licensed to sell alcohol (which actually raises a point in that SWFC effectively contract out our catering outlets to Centerplate/Lindley so whilst wed get a small portion of profits from such outlets, we wouldn't achieve a maximum revenue from them at these events and surely that affects any current feasibility to host an event like this currently anyway).

There's no real vehicle access from the West/Leppings Lane to the bowl area - Stadium Control is in the way and its just steps down either side from there with segregation fencing too. North/Kop corner is the only logical access point.
