Classless since 1889!

Recommended Posts

Came across this story in the Sheffield & Rotherham Independent newspaper from October 1890 which illustrates that they have had been a classless act and a bunch of scrubbers from the beginning.

Good diggin' matey. Interesting to note that they refer to us as "Sheffield Wednesday" rather than "The Wednesday". Sloppy reporting, maybe.

Wonderful buddy - nice to see someone else taking an interest in old papers!

Wednesday & United settled their matters in their first ever game two months later.

Wednesday won 2-1 at Olive Grove.

More evidence from August 1889.

Victorian for MASSIVE " Holders of a High Local Position".
