scram Posted July 20, 2022 Share Posted July 20, 2022 CTE currently is impossible to to detect in a living brain As is concussion incidentally The best we can so currently is to retrospectively look at how many ex footballers get dementia compared to the general population Then the next stage needs to look at why some ex footballers suffer while others don't - is it s genetic thing (likely) 3rd stage would probably be screening for the genetic mutation but that is way down the line and until then we need to be protective - and its walking a tightrope with adults but very easy to change for younger players Just do not expose them to risk In academy football (where heading is common) they do not take throw ins until a certain age because they don't have the motor skills to take a throw in - those same players can head the ball multiple times per session or game Thats normal...
