oldtawnyowl
I got caught up in this because I come out on Penistone road, then cut back up to Wisewood via Vere Road and back of the Leppings lane. 5 millers stuck me on my arse trying to get to the actual fighting, I was a by product that just got in their way. Then a policeman with a camera said something like - get up and on your way, whilst other coppers were stood watching waiting for the horses to go in, that didn't from what I could tell. I carried on, tried to stand where Grahams tyres was - which was out of the way to where the action was, and was promptly told i'd be arrested if I didn't move. I used to go out with a lass, years ago, who's brother was a copper. He always said that if there was a fight or any aggro at a game or outside a pub after closing time he would collar whichever spectator was furthest away from the action, march him well away, spend 10 minutes lecturing him the send him away with a warning. Made sure that by the time he returned all the trouble had died down. Seems little has changed with the average SY copper then.
