When I signed for Wednesday they were in a very bad place. We were seven points adrift at the foot of the 2nd tier. I made my debut against Newcastle and my introduction to the side, started the great escape in which we took 17 points from a possible 20 in our remaining games, to stay up by a single point.

We weren`t 7 points adrift at the foot of the 2nd tier though. It was the 1st division (1927) but we would have dropped to the 2nd tier if it wasn`t for the `great escape`.
