Gary Bannister - Sheffield Wednesday Striker

Seems to be exceptionally popular amongst Owlstalkers this lad. I thought he was magnificent. Was a real hero of mine when he was was Hillsborough.

Great player but never really complimentary about his time at Hillsborough or Wilko.

I met him a couple of times and he came across as a bit of wee pipe head one time sticks in the memory especially.

Me and a mate were walking through the club car park when Gary pulled up in his car and we noticed he had a light out and my mate went over to tell him..

Gary's flippant response was Thanks kid!! and just walked away without even giving us a glance seeing as we were both older than him it hit a nerve.

So my mate shouted him back and told him he was a coper and to get it fixed or he'd have him pulled up after the match I've never seen such a change in character suddenly he was really apologetic.

 

My Mate worked at British Steel with me lol.
