camffiti
The Sheffield Wednesday Development Squad were denied an opening day victory over Birmingham with the visitors striking late in the game to draw 3-3. Wednesday struck first through Emmanuel Dieseruvwe before Birmingham levelled the score. Defender Ayo Obileye regained the Owls’ advantage and Wednesday were seemingly on their way to victory when Caolan Lavery put the home side 3-2 up after Birmingham had equalised once again. But the Blues struck late in the game to tie the score and Development Squad coach Lee Bullen said: “The performance as very pleasing. Yes it was disappointing to concede the three goals and they could have been avoided. “But the work ethic of the side was outstanding. You could say that should be a given of any side but you don’t always get it but we have with this bunch of players. “It was pleasing to see the energy and the amount of quality on show. Our average age was 17 and a half years and what was really pleasing was that they taken things in we have been doing on the training ground. Bullen added: “We haven’t fallen behind in a game yet so it will be interesting to see how the lads reacts to that situation. “But so far the players are showing an awful lot of trust in each other and they are taking on board the guidelines we are giving them.†
