KivoOwl Posted August 15, 2012 Share Posted August 15, 2012 Hi all, with the new season is upon us, I thought I'd make a start on the new Owlstalk Prediction League campaign. The league has its own website -http://predictions.walkerdesigns.co.uk/index.php - and is open to all Wednesday fans who fancy a go. Ten points are up for grabs from each game - - 2 points for correct outcome, win lose, draw etc. - 3 points correct scoreline. - 2 points first goalscorer. - 3 bonus points if you get all the above correct. When making a Prediction you must select what you think the outcome of the game will be ie win/lose/draw for Wednesday, then the scoreline and finally the FIRST Wednesday goalscorer. If you do not think Wednesday will score in the entire game then it is important you select "No Goalscorer". Predictions are made for Sheffield Wednesday's 46 League games and not ANY Cup games. The fixtures will be added onto the Prediction League site and will show the date and time of the game. The site automatically locks any predictions once a game has kicked off, and therefore all predictions must be made before the kick-off. The league has been running for a few years now and has been a big success. At first there was just one big league, but the original creators (agentwalker and Benjani) noticed that a lot of contestants would simply stop predicting half way through the season when they realised they weren't in with a chance of winning it. So the decision to have multiple leagues, with promotion & relegation, was made. (There is an overall league for those wanting to know who the BIG winner is). There is still a rule in place concerning drop-outs. It is only fair that we have people committed to predicting on a consistent basis, so anyone that fails to predict for FIVE consecutive games at any point of the season will be automatically deleted from the game - this gives those that are willing participants a better chance of winning promotion and figuring at the top end of the game. So make sure you keep playing! Anybody that doesn't predict for the first 5 games will not only be deleted, but replaced from the league below by those in the promotion places. This will only apply for the first 5 games. Last season there were 16 teams in each league, but this year there will be 18 per league, following feedback. There were suggestions that members should pay a fee to join, with the best contestants earning prize money, but I think it'd put off a lot of people. So how do you join? Simply send me a PM with your email address included, and you will receive a confirmation email showing you how to register. People will be admitted on a first come first served basis, so get a move on if you want to be in a higher league as possible! Those that are already members need not apply again, and have been allocated their places in the current league based on their performance last season. Enjoy!
