Playing on the deck

Recommended Posts

There is a need for Wednesday to keep the ball on the floor.

In training, players should be fined for hoofing it.

Our strikers can not deal with balls above head height.

If (a big if) Jeffers could be fit, he has the ability to hold the ball

and lay it off, even if goalscoring as deserted him.

Maybe a Jeffers, Varney, and JJ front three would work?

Emphasis needed for on the floor link play.

Pressure, pressure, pressure are the keywords for midfield.

Plenty of speed work and running too.

Long training runs, like under Howard Wilkinson may be an idea.

If not performing in a game, hard toil in training.

Do people agree with these points?

I want their training to change altogether. Did anyone see in the interview with Clarke in yesterday's matchday programme he said one of the best things about being a footballer is that they don't train for very long? After the performances the lads have been putting in they should be training double at least.

* this was in the same interview he said his hero was Akpo Sodje what a wee pipe he really is

I think Irvine should introduce a football into training next week. That would be a good start.

The week after he could show the players where the goalposts are.

I agree. There should be more transparency with the fans to training regimes.

For me, in our position, and after bad performances, the emphasis should be work, work, work,

and on the deck, on the deck, on the deck.

I hoped Irvine would be a hard taskmaster like Howard Wilkinson.

After a poor performance, the manager needs to be saying the training will get harder.

Maybe, a bit of a campaign for training transparency can happen here.

This at least gives something back to the fans on the way of commitment.

This would be poetry!
