Why do we 'float' crosses?

There is no hiding the fact that, physically, our starting XI is one of the smallest teams in the league which makes our technique from corners and attacking free kicks all the more surprising in that we tend toward floaty, high lofted balls without any whip. Contrast with Brighton, and Boro, who look deadly from every corner and free kick with sharp, penetrating, inswinging crosses that only need the faintest of deflections to find their way into the net.

It just seems to me that it is an odd tactic to deploy. Wallace and Fessi can both whip crosses in from set pieces but rarely do so. We could be much more threatening than we have been and I have found most corners more of a hindrance than an opportunity.

It isn't scapegoating - I'm still on cloud 9 and adoring of everyone who played (I almost said 'turned up'...) on Saturday, but it is a tactic which has had me scratching my head, certainly since the Brighton games when we were shown how lethal teams can be from set pieces.
