Hillsborough Refurb & Extension - Start Date: Feb 2013

I received a Construction Project update at work today with the above title.

Yes... as random as it is, it states that the planned work to extend the West Stand and the total capacity to 45,000 will start in Feb13 and will take 14 months finishing in Apr14. It also mentions plans to incorporate a Doctors Surgery on the site.

Has anyone else heard anything on this. I know we got planning permission back in 2009 but when we didn't get the world cup it all went quiet.

"Scheme comprises of refurbishment and extension works to football stadium to increase capacity from 39,000 to 45,000, extension of the West Stand to

create an additional area of seating and the erection of a roof over the entire West Stand. The scheme also includes construction of a doctors surgery. The

associated works include enabling, sewer systems, infrastructure and landscaping"

I think this would definitely have happened if we had won the World Cup bid probably to the deadline you have seen. I think someone at your place has found the plans that have since been shelved.
