31Dec1966
Oldham aren't and never have been called the Owls, the explanation is given earlier. I wouldn't be happy if I was an Oldham supporter having an Owl on the badge when another club are known worldwide as The Owls. There are four "golden" Owls on plinths outside a Leeds civic building, they're very nice but Leeds have never been called the Owls either. We were, of course nicknamed The Owls on our move to Owlerton in 1899, before that we were called The Blades (the other club being called the Cutlers). There's only one club instantly recognisable as The Owls. I like our badge and I also like the 1966 traditional one, but which is best...
Leofric
Hate to say it as my mum grew up in Oldham & used to go & watch them - but that is one seriously flippingcool owl badge. It looks like it may not even be frightened of our Hereford Bull. I think it's time SWFC updated their logo.
