IRVINE and LEP News

Recommended Posts

Well just saw this article from Lancashire Evening Post on the 8th Jan following the appointment of Phil Brown at PNE.... if only we could turn the clocks back!

Lawrenson feels North End’s problems stem all the way back to the end of 2009 when they sacked Alan Irvine – a decision which the former Republic of Ireland star reckons was a big mistake.

Irvine wasn’t out of work long – he was immediately offered a route back into management at Sheffield Wednesday.

He couldn’t prevent Wednesday from being relegated last season but the Owls look a good bet to earn promotion from League One.

It’s Murphy’s Law that we’ll get relegated and Sheffield Wednesday will probably pass us on the way up,” he added.

“Dismissing Alan Irvine was a pretty big mistake. It wasn’t the appointment of Darren Ferguson which was the mistake it was the decision to dismiss Alan Irvine that was.

“There were never any real grounds to dismiss him. He was building slowly and the team was going in the right direction.”

Haha. Irvine did good at Preston until his final season with them. Bit like Laws for us.

You've misunderstood what lawrenson was saying.

Good OP. Needs burying before the masses come across it.
