Binky Griptite
How the landscape changes in a week... Wednesday have laid down their mark in the transfer market but who else has been busy shaping their side for the forthcoming season in the hope of bagging your vote in the prediction competition? http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/yH72qGr7xbcX9OsiU39wEfg GOSSIP World Cup-winning Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, 30, has agreed to join Manchester United on a three-year contract believed to be worth £7.2m a year. (Bild - in German) The fee for Germany international Schweinsteiger is believed to be about £5.75m. (Manchester Evening News) United may now end their interest in 25-year-old Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. The Manchester club had seen a £20m bid for the Frenchman rejected. (Daily Express) The Football Association of Ireland will not stand in Martin O'Neill's way if he wants to exit his contract as national coach early to return to club management. At least one bookmaker has suspended betting on the 63-year-old being named as the next manager of Leicester. (Guardian) O'Neill's return would be popular among fans, according to former Leicester captain Matt Elliott. (Leicester Mercury) Cash rich Sheffield Wednesday will launch audacious bids for Luke Beckett and Adam Le Fondre. The bids are believed to be north of £350,000 as the club show their intent for the forthcoming season. (HITC.com) Liverpool's owners are prepared to keep forward Raheem Sterling, 20, in the reserves rather than allow him to leave for below their valuation. (Daily Mirror) Sterling has returned for pre-season training having called in sick for two sessions - but it remains to be seen whether he will take part in the club's pre-season tour, which begins on Sunday. (Guardian) The Professional Footballers' Association has said it is prepared to mediate between Sterling and Liverpool. The PFA performed a similar role when former Reds striker Luis Suarez was the subject of a bid from Arsenal in 2013. (Telegraph) Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been left frustrated by the club's lack of ambition in the transfer market so far this summer, and is urging the board to provide him with more resources. (Sun - subscription required) Watford are targeting 32-year-old Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Alessandro Diamanti and 30-year-old Hamburg midfielder Valon Behrami. Both used to play for West Ham. (Sun - subscription required) Tottenham have turned down a £3.6m bid from Turkish club Galatasaray for 25-year-old Romania international defender Vlad Chiriches. (London Evening Standard) Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to get his squad fully fit before he considers "quality" additions. (London Evening Standard) Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is open to a move to Everton. The Colombian 26-year-old has described the Toffees as "a very competitive team" and "a great possibility". (Daily Express) West Ham winger Stewart Downing is set to miss Saturday's friendly at Peterborough as Middlesbrough move closer to re-signing the 30-year-old England international. (Teesside Gazette) Newcastle United will confirm the £13m signing of 24-year-old Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV Eindhoven this weekend. (Daily Mail) Southampton executive director Les Reed said the club have bids in for a number of players after Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld, 26, joined Spurs rather than Saints. (Southern Daily Echo) Norwich City have doubled their offer for 23-year-old Hull City winger Robbie Brady - but have been told that £6m is still not enough. (Daily Mirror) Swansea City manager Garry Monk does not want 32-year-old midfielder Leon Britton to leave. Binky Griptite
Not long left to get those entries in now, will the DC revolution takes Wednesday into your selection? Binky Griptite
There's now barely ten days to go before the start of the season, many teams will by now have completed the squad they'll be taking into the big kick off next Saturday (Friday for a couple of teams). If you're in two minds about the competition rest assured it's a high quality, enjoyable and we'll run event*. One payment gets you a full season of entertainment and I've never had a single email of complaint**. Also don't forget this is raising money for a very worthwhile cause which will unfortunately affect far too many people during the course of their lives - The British Live Trust does a great job of raising awareness of Liver Disease which is the only major cause of death which is still on the rise today. Is not just lifestyle choices which leads to live disease, I lost my Mum to liver disease as a result of an NHS blood transfusion through which she contracted hepatitis c, yet there is explicably no national screening programme despite anyone having a transfusion prior to 1985 being at risk. The British liver trust raises awareness and saves lives. http://www.britishlivertrust.org.uk/ The entry sheet for the competition is below, as well as being embedded in the opening post. http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/yH72qGr7xbcX9OsiU39wEfg *not strictly true **i block incoming emails

Binky Griptite
Had a few entries tonight despite it arguably still being too early for people to be blind drunk, even one from a Grimsby Town fan! No idea where that came from... anyway, if you do get legless and enter a team don't forget you can amend your selection in the morning when your decision making might be a little better.
