Hallam FC 2022/23 season thread

Recommended Posts

After getting promoted from the NCEL Division One as champions last season with 102 points and a GD of +103 — the first club in NCEL history to break the 100 points and goals barrier in the same season — Hallam have made a solid start to life in the 9th tier, sitting in 7th with 6 points from their first 4 games.

A few familiar faces from last season have returned like Danny Deakin and Iren Wilson, and they’ve also secured the signing of our old mate Daniel Pudil for this season (now he’s back from his holidays), who must surely be the only player in the 9th tier to be capped 35 times by his country.

Hallam are at home in an FA Vase first round qualifier this Sunday against Ashton Athletic. As always, tickets will be £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. Hopefully a few extra folk can make it up to Sandygate as there’s no clash with our game the day before.

Pudil made his debut for the Countrymen in Sunday’s 3-2 FA Vase 1st qualifying round win against Ashton Athletic. He provided the assists for 2 of the goals in a cracking game. Hallam will be away at South Liverpool in the next round.

Another home game tonight against Golcar United, who beat Craig Denton’s men just ten days ago in the reverse fixture. Hallam had centre half Julian Lawrence in net that game as regular keeper Myles Wright was banned, and despite Jules saving a penalty, Hallam lost 2-1 — a result they’ll be hoping to put right at the world’s oldest ground this evening.

Give them a follow on the Twitter if that’s your thing:
