You can get there, but return is a nightmare and the costs shoot up as you have to make changes and travel across networks. I am in London and would like to go - any thoughts on whether anyone wants to share costs of a mini-bus / coach if enough of us? Ibis hotels do a budget range called "Etap" and I'm certain there will be one in Manchester. Cost about £45 for a double room. But honestly they are great and perfect for this sort of occasion.
