The FA Premier Academy League structure

Recommended Posts

There are 40 academy sides split into 4 regional groups.

Wednesday are in Group D.

Each sides plays 28 games a season, 2 games each vs. the 9 other teams in their own group, and 10 games against sides from the paired groups (A&B and C&D)

The winners of the four groups go through to the semi-finals and final, home advantage goes to the team with most points gained in their own group.

Arsenal have already won their group this season (Group A), with Manchester City winning group C as a result of Wednesday holding Man U to a draw this morning.

In Group D, Sunderland are also looking good for the title, with Wednesday down in 9th place, although we do remain unbeaten in four games now!

The Owls won their regional group back in 1997 (losing to West Ham in the national final), but since then have performed poorly.
