Spare a quid for an old Wednesdayite?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys sorry to be on the scrounge but....

Back on 19th November 2013 my dad, Brian Pemberton, passed away suddenly a without warning of an undetected heart condition.  He was only 63 years of age, was active and seemingly in good shape.  He was active and a big Wednesdayite.

Some of you will know him through support of Sheffield Wednesday FC and others through drinking in Firth Park WMC.

He was a big Wednesdayite and had seen many big occasions involving our beloved club.  He saw Wednesday throw away a lead against Everton in the 1966 cup final, the scandal of match fixing in the 1960's.  Saw Pele play at Hillsborough.  Wednesdays raise under Big Jack.  Boxing day massacre.  Wilko's team marching on in the 1980's.  Big Ron's arrival.  The magical league cup victory in 1991.  The drama of 1993 when we beat the scum at Wembley before coming so close in both cup finals.  European football at Hillsborough.  The decline.  Paul Sturrock and the Cardiff play-off final.  Milan saving our great club, I could go on and on........but plenty of up's and down's.....

Anyway I am cycling to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation in his honour.  Don't get me wrong we are all asked to put our hands in our pockets far too often and as Wednesdayites we do it over and over again.   If any of you could spare even a pound then I would be eternally grateful.

The event that I am riding is the Peak District Mountain Bike Challenge - 39 miles of off-road up throughout the Peak District.   The ride is on Saturday 24th September 2014 - it starts at 9am, if we are at home this will mean that I will have to ride harder!!!
