Proprietor Neil Hargreaves and member Victoria Wood were welcomed to the training ground by Academy manager Sean McAuley and director Ashley Carson to launch the link officially. The Academy now has a record number of around a dozen patrons who each pay £2,500 a year to support the youth set-up. "All the money raised goes to the Academy and helps to make a difference, whether that be things like paying for equipment or funding teams going abroad" said Carson. The club are currently lining up playing visits to Italy and America for youth players. The spotlight has been on the Academy recently with seven home-grown players having been in the 16 to face Bristol City. Owlstalk have added a section on the academy to their website. *Supporter group Wednesdayite have met Ashley Carson, Owls chief executive Kaven Walker and new director Lee Strafford in what the fan organisation describe as "a very productive and positive session."
