Fan Forum Owlstalk offers support to club's Academy

WEDNESDAY fan forum Owlstalk have become patrons of the club's Academy.

Proprietor Neil Hargreaves and member Victoria Wood were welcomed to the training ground by Academy manager Sean McAuley and director Ashley Carson to launch the link officially.

The Academy now has a record number of around a dozen patrons who each pay £2,500 a year to support the youth set-up.

"All the money raised goes to the Academy and helps to make a difference, whether that be things like paying for equipment or funding teams going abroad" said Carson.

The club are currently lining up playing visits to Italy and America for youth players.

The spotlight has been on the Academy recently with seven home-grown players having been in the 16 to face Bristol City.

Owlstalk have added a section on the academy to their website.

*Supporter group Wednesdayite have met Ashley Carson, Owls chief executive Kaven Walker and new director Lee Strafford in what the fan organisation describe as "a very productive and positive session."

The talks centred on the propsosals sent by Wednesdayite to the club recently, which included suggestions by the group for new investment but they acknowledge that these have been superceded by the initiative spearheaded by Strafford and his fellow board newcomer Nick Parker, which do however included the possibility of local input

Wednesdayite say that operational suggestions from them were well received and will be looked at in detail.
