cardiffowl06
Its illegal. There is a smoking area outside the ground though - that is the pavement outside the kop.
philswiz
It is not illegal to provide a smoking area, could each have a roof and one wall, would assume that it would not cost loads and would show appreciation of the fans (customers). Maybe evne have a *** machine......
@owlstalk
I hate smoking BUT Is the back of the kop 'outside' ? How does it work ? If they stood on the opposite side of the turnstile wall on tailtone road - is THAT outside ? ?? Owlstalk Shop
KivoOwl
I hate smoking BUT Is the back of the kop 'outside' ? How does it work ? If they stood on the opposite side of the turnstile wall on tailtone road - is THAT outside ? ?? Think it's to do with 70% open air space, the Kop is one building I think, and includes behind the stand, and under 70% is inside space, so no smoking, even on the bit behind. cardiffowl06
You cannot smoke in an enclosed area, so really the back of the kop isn't enclosed. Pubs own their car park land but smokers can smoke there, wednesday own the back of the kop and smokers can't.
philswiz
Pretty sure that my local is more than 70% building, yet there is a smoking area outside......

Kel
Me too. I don't like walking into the toilets and feeling like i'm a contestant on Stars In Your Eyes.
philswiz
I have no VI in this, I stopped smoking 18 months ago, but a small smoking area could be made round the back of the Kop away from non-smokers but to keep the smokers happy.
@owlstalk
Surely by not allowing a smoking area the smokers are running into the toilets and smoking - therefore increasing the queues for the loo's AND condensing all the bad smoke into one rectangular block of death smoke ? TheWednesdayFC
Why can't they just open the gates into an area with temporary fencing around it, and a couple of stewards to make sure nobody tries to bypass the fence, like night clubs do? Guest jimb
why can't people just manage to go 90 minutes without a ***???? ffs do these people never fly anywhere? go to the cinema? theatre? get a flippinglife - it's 90 minutes! we'd never have won 2 world wars with this attitude. and if things are THAT bad in the toilets why is nobody stopping it? SWFC could face prosecution for allowing it to continue. i suggest clowns with soda syphons as a way of dealing with it.

It's illegal to even smoke in the toilet and the club should be clamping down on it. Seriously if people can't go without a *** for 2 hours then they have serious problems. Seriously if people can't go without a *** for 2 hours then they have serious problems. Are people allowed to pop out of the ground at half time for a quick gasper? I do smoke when I go out but not at football, so I don't know. If they're not, don't be surprised to find people smoking in the bogs. As far as I'm concerned the smoking ban is all well and good but there should be some flexibility too. I don't see why clubs, pubs and venues shouldn't have the option of having smoking bars, rooms etc as well as mainly non-smoking. Of course there's the issue of staff having to breath it in. If the jobs are advertised on that basis, what's the problem? "Bar Staff required. This position will involve working in a smokey atmosphere". Apply or don't. Apple
"Bar Staff required. This position will involve working in a smokey atmosphere". Apply or don't.Because that would be indirect discrimination against people with asthma. They wouldn't be able to apply for that job. Before it was banned, it was fine because it didn't need saying, but if you put that in an advert, it would be jumped on in an instant.
