Goals !!!

Recommended Posts

Happy that we have signed Hendricks and Buckley ..Happy that we have 2 new speedsters with good pedigrees ...Happy that our defense are looking solid ..

Happy that Xisco seems to have been accepted/welcomed by the players ...However Unhappy due to lack of firepower ..

Who is going to score the necessary goals to keep us in the Championship .....Answers please !!.

We need to give the strikers we’ve got the opportunity. Makes no difference who’s up front if we don’t create chances..

Attack, attack, attack

We've got the joint-lowest xg in the division so far, so it's hardly surprising that we're struggling for goals. We've created bugger all.

We simply have to find a way of applying some consistent pressure on our opponents' defences and carving out some genuine chances for ourselves.

Hopefully the two weeks on the training pitch have been put to good use and we'll see a marked improvement starting tomorrow...

I honestly think he'll be focused on staying compact for a while.

We could do with a left sided player who can create chances.

My money is on OG being the most consistent goal scorer.

Fletcher is just awful

Windass had not look at the races in any game

Gregory has never and will never be a winger, until the manager gets his head out of his own A@#e and stops playing players out of position we will see very little from him.

Smith could score the goals if he gets any services, but again he would have to be on the pitch to do that.

Having watched soton tonight they've got massive problems

Grim reading. It looks like we score when we're expected to, and concede when we're expected to, and we're twice as likely to concede

as score.

Ipswich score 2.2 goals a game and we concede 1.8. We're shipping 2 aren't we?

Ipswich concede 1.4 goals a game and we score 0.8. We scoring 1.

Stats say Wednesday 1 Ipswich 2.

You could see it against us on the rare occasions that we ventured forward - they left acres of space that could have been exploited by a more confident team, particularly down their left flank.

Joint bottom with top of the league Preston

Over a period of time, these things tend to even out, so the fact that Preston have scored a lot more than their xg might indicate they should have could suggest that their current position is unlikely to last.

Unless they really do have some deadly strikers.

Spot on.

10 in defence doesn't help, neither does playing with no width.

Opportunity today to see what work has been done on the training ground over the last 2 weeks.

Xg is a good guide but it has huge flaws.

Say a team score a 5% chance in the first minute away from home. Then decide to park the bus. Their xg would be terrible but they weren't trying to score and may well win the game

Yeah, they're better as a rough guide over a longer stretch of games for that reason.

It wasn't the first minute when they scored, but I thought the above is pretty much what happened in our game against Preston.

They scored early in the second half, then were happy to sit in and keep us at arm's length for the rest of the game.

We ended the match with a slightly higher xg than them, but we never looked like scoring, never mind winning.
