New players, winning games (even when not playing that well).

Compared to where we were when DM took over it's chalk and cheese.

 

So you have to give him credit on two counts.

 

- Stopping the rot

- Building one of Wednesdays most successfull teams in recent years

 

I hope Chansiri backs him in the January transfer window and we bring in a couple of players to get us over the line. 

 

I also don't want to see the contract situation of certain players contribute to letting these standards slip.

 

All in all its good news for the year, and were in a much better position this year than at the end of 2021 because of it.

Regardless of division or financial backing or whatever, you do have to take your hat off to that as it's some achievement. But we all know it'll be worth next to nothing if we're still in League One come August.

I was thinking of the same question, but noticed that in 1930 we averaged over 2 points per game, meaning the points have been calculated based on 3 points for a win for the whole period.

Those figures are not right though.

1958 is shown as our 5th most successful season.

In 1957-8 we finished bottom.

1958-9 we were runaway champions.

1959-60 we finished 5th and had a great first half of the season. In Nov 1959 we beat Arsenal 5-1, Chelsea 4-0 and WHU 7-0.

 

SO 1959 must have been better than 1958.

 

Unless the stats are double checked they don't mean much.
