Mark Bright (twice, 1993 and 1994), Steve MacLean (2005) and Neil Mellor (2011) all scored 20 or more goals in a season for us since 1991. I assume the original post refers to league goals only.

League goals only. Mellor scored about 7 in the JPT ffs. That doesn't count.

Do our strikers get a proper run in a settled side though?

or proper service?

In any event, does it even matter if you have most of the team weighing in with goals? It's not who gets the goals that's important, it's that the goals are got and we are getting plenty!

Well smith has played 18 games this season

Remember he was injured for some

And contributes a goal ever 4.5 games

That's 10 goals in a full season

For the money we are paying him ,I'd expect a better goal rate

Gregory 1 in 5 (9 goals in a season)

Patterson 1 in 7 (6 goals in a season)

Windass 1 in 5.5 (8 goals in a season)

Its simply not good enough

THanks mate

Appreciate the stats

When you say 18 games played is that full games or games where he's come on late in the game etc?

Just trying to suss out how long he's had on the pitch in terms of minutes played etc

Be honest, if we score in the region of 90 goals this season and get promoted (quite likely) who is going to be bothered if none of our strikers get 20?

Answer none of us!

Be lucky to get a striker hit 10 this season atm

Really poor return so far from our 'strikers'

Smith is a  borderline flop imo

Our strike force get no service, we need to play to Smith strength crosses into the box from the wings. Smith will score goals.

taking shots from outside the box, Smith wont get many.

we do this all the time buy strikers that dont fit our way of playing then blame them for not being good enough.
