Popular Post Lord Snooty
"Sprouts, Sir? I thought you didn't like them?" "Oh. I don't. Always said it. I just don't get it Stubbs. I mean, what's the point of them, eh? Al dente they're hard and horrid. Over cooked you're only a step away from cabbage soup" "Cook says she's going to Sauté them with onion, bacon and chestnuts ,Sir but..." "You make my point for me Stubbs! You have to disguise the fact you're eating them. Hidden in there among the Lardons. Waiting, like a mugger in a dark p!ss drenched underpass- readying to jump out and ruin the day." "Sir, if you really find them that appalling, and I'm no huge fan myself, then might I suggest that we simply don't have them?" "Don't have them! Don't have them! We have to have them, Stubbs. It's tradition!" "Well is tradition so important?" "Is Christmas time tradition important? Of course it is! After all, Boxing day, Stubbs. Boxing day. A treasured time for your Wednesday fan. A day that has shone like a beacon these 43 years." "As you said ,Sir. 43 years ago..." "Ahh but that game stands a warming fire from the past right to the present Stubbs." "Sir, half the fan base weren't even born. It surely doesn't warm them." "It matters not. For that game was a beacon, a beacon that has lit a hundred signal fires since. A torch if you will, that has passed down the generations from Father to son and been re-lit every season by the Wednesday boys. For we always enjoy Boxing day. I can barely remember anything other than a positive result on a Boxing day. That's a tradition we need to keep alive! And That's why tradition is important. And that is why...we must endure sprouts." "Apart from Burton Albion, Sir" "Eh?" "Burton Albion, Sir. You played them on Boxing day just the other year in one of the worst displays in recent living memory" "I'd forgotten about that. My, but now you've reminded me, that horrid memory now crashes into the consciousness" "Indeed ,Sir? Like a mugger in a p!ss drenched under pass, or a horrible disguised sprout leaping from the lardons and onto the fork?" "Ok. Fine. Fine then, no sprouts. But if we lose it's on the head of you and all the other sprout dodgers!" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fleetwood Town V Sheffield Wednesday Dec 26, 2022 3:00 pm Highbury Stadium ------------------------------- FLEETWOOD ------------------------------------ Fleetwood Town will remain without defender Josh Earl, as he continues to serve a suspension after being sent off late in the draw with Ipswich, and the back four of Shaun Rooney, Aristote Nsiala, Harrison Holgate and Carl Johnston should remain unchanged in his absence. Midfielder Daniel Batty will be pushing to feature from the outset, after he netted the 90th-minute winner off the bench last time out, while experienced striker Joe Garner is also fighting to return to the starting XI. ------------------------------- THE WEDNESDAY ------------------------------------ Dennis Adeniran, Barry Bannan and George Byers have all trained this week for the Owls and Wednesday certainly have missed their attacking midfield duo of late with Wednesday putting in sub-par performances. Cameron Dawson will continue in goal after coming in against Oxford and keeping a clean sheet, including a last minute penalty save. Darren Moore must decide whether to play with a twin strike pairing of Gregory and Smith or continue with Windass in a floating role. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 22 8 4
trumbullowl
Brilliant Snoots. Love sprouts myself, and reminiscing about the BDM. Hark now hear the Wednesday sing. Back to our best, 4-0 because of Boxing Day. UTO. 3
BOOFABI
Return to all cannons firing is very important today. We should be looking to make a statement. 4-0, Gregory hat trick, Byers header. 2
Owlsbury
Thank the Lord. I hope the the sprout (Bannan) has an explosive game today. For those of a certain age, us shorties were called sprouts for some reason. Have a relaxing, successful boxing day, come on the Wednesday.
VictoryBell
Brilliant, once again,Snoots. When will these opening posts yours finally get made into a book? It's not too late to get it ready for sale for next Christmas - it would sell like Christmas sprouts (inevitably, and in huge quantity). Stubbs said that half the current Wednesdayites weren't born in 1979. More to the point, how many who were at that match are still alive? Anyone there would have to been their 50s now at the very least. I wonder who the youngest Wednesdayite is, who was there. Answers on a postcard. (You can see from that last phrase that it isn't me)
prowl
Back to winning ways today with a thumping victory. In the Christmas spirit I'm prepared to accept even a 0 - 1 win as a thumping victory if we get rid of the slow, torpid play of the last 2 or 3 games. Hopefully Byers and Bannan straight back in and Adeniran on for the last 20 minutes. Smith and Gregory together up front, Famewo at the back. Put the last few games in to the past with a lively swashbuckling style. It's Boxing Day, it's tradition, just do it.
parkfieldowl14
Merry Christmas to Everyone on OT and thanks again Lord Snoots for another excellent OMDT. Can see this one being a frustrating game with Fleetwood making it as difficult as they possibly can for us. 1-0 win to the lads today. COME ON YOU BLUE AND WHITE WIZARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NobbyStyle
Great OMDT again Lord Snooty & Merry Christmas to you & Stubbs. I did sprouts in bacon yesterday & it’s been a very windy night down at Nobby Towers. I went to the BDM as a nine year old & remember it well. I also remember the next home game-a 0-1 loss to Plymouth on a cold January night & my Dad seeing my disappointment saying the phrase that should be tattooed on the inside of every Wednesday fans eyelids…. ”We’re not gonna win em all son” Anyway forget that, 0-2 to the Wednesday Club. MBMitchell
I want Smith Gregory upfront and attacking football I don't think that's too much to ask for, considering I didn't get my Wednesday apron I asked for yesterday

Fablon Dunlop
They've had a short break and two of our best players are back. A more stable midfield and a better performance (hopefully) Wednesday win 2-0. Gregory and Byers.
