jamiej
I was 11 at the time and although I’d been going to games a while it was the first time I was nervous before a match. My stomach was doing somersaults and I don’t know why none of my mates were pigs there were none at school but I knew this was huge this wasn’t a normal game and oh what a game all these years later I can still see mellors cracker TC celebrating in front of that lot king tapping in and smithy slotting away the penalty in front of a near empty away end.it was a hell of a day few have bettered it in over forty years few ever will despite their protestations they never matched or bettered it although we did at Wembley. The boxing day massacre a thing of beauty 1
trumbullowl
Because of Boxing Day. From that day on, for the next nearly twenty years I felt very lucky to be a Wednesday fan.

United captain on the day. "Jack Charlton sent Tony Toms [Wednesday coach] to tap me up about a week or two after the match," he recalled. "He said 'big Jack has asked me to ask you if you would like to sign for a big club in Sheffield?' "I said I already am. I will never forget that, he tapped me on the back and he was off and I never saw him again.
Daniele Giovanni
Got a lift from Firth Park to Hillsborough from Sheffield United fans, kept my scarf hidden from them until I got out the car, they were very pissed about it 1
