Blip or Steady decline?

Blip or Steady Decline?

  1. 1. We've only scored 1 goal in the last 3 games and dropped 6 points in the process. Is this evidence that we're going backwards or nothing more than a temporary glitch while we have key players out injured?

    • just a blip (don't panic!)
      128
    • steady decline (we're doomed!)

The current poll tells you all you need to know about your claims and your claim to be talking on behalf of ‘the fans’

lol

Having a quick add up of the tickets that are still available for the Newcastle game there’s nearly 15,000 tickets unsold in the Wednesday ends which means we’ve only sold about 13,000 home tickets for that game so far.

Is that a bit of an indicator of how fans are feeling about recent performances or just an indicator that a lot of fans can’t be bothered turning up for cup games anymore?

Exeter manager says "We bossed the game from start to finish",reality was, they bossed it from second half onwards

Opinions pal. That's just one game. We could easily say that about the last 6 or 7 games where we haven't really performed well. In fact the performances of late have been dire.

I don't think it's a blip at all. We have been playing the same way all season even in those games where we scored well. There are countless times when we should have been punished for sloppy passing, when playing out from the back, but our opponents failed to score even the simplest chances. That's League One quality for you. There are countless numbers of times when our frowards try an impossible shot, often when a team mate is better placed, simply to gift the ball to our opponents. But Hey... that's League One Football. That's it we are a League One team with League One players playing League one football.  Get used to that and you will enjoy it much more If we get promoted.

All I'm reading is that we've made some mistakes and have room for improvement

Kinda like most teams

LOL,...ime confused now,is it ME replying as parajack,OR 'Owlstalk' posting as parajack....& me replying....have to ponder it..GUILTY as charged i suppose for mis speaking,i should of course have said why SOME fans....

I dont claim to speak for,OR represent anyones views but my own....

You havnt answered the reasonable Q posed though have you? Do you think the right way to overcome the 'blip'(if thats what it is) is by continuing to play it out up to a lone striker?

Heres another Q,if we beat the two very (in my view) poor to average 3rd tier teams we play next, will the 'blip' have ended,OR will we have just beat 2 teams that any side that seeks promotion would be expected to beat?

I can't decide weather blip or start of decline. For me DM needs to give his head a bit of a shake.as without Bazza & Byers  our style of play isn't working   He signed 3 forwards at the start of this campaign, Wilks & Smith where fantastic in this division for clubs. DM needs to work on finding a way of getting goals out of them .quicken the passing, getting crosses whipped into the box ,maybe even go more direct off Smith. Try something different from what were currently doing.

Honestly I dont' care if we get promoted

We could get promoted with the team tripping up over their own shoelaces and the ball hitting them on the bum and bouncing into the opposition goal for as far as I'm concerned

lol

I'd LOVE us to play amazing, exciting, attacking football and smash every team 10 nil

But I also have one foot in reality and understand it's going to be a challenge to get promoted but that we will do it through graft, by going through ups and downs, and by trusting Moore who up to now hasn't let us down in any way whatsoever.

Just for total clarity I'd be well up for Moore trying something different if it's going to get wins

Also for total clarity I'm more than happy to swap out the manager of this football club any time a manager could come and do better for us across all areas of the club from youth football to first team, ethics, fan engagement, player development etc.  That includes swapping out Darren Moore IF someone can do better than he's doing.

This just isn’t true or factual in any way though

Where it’s an opinion it doesn’t have to be either does it? If it’s how he feels is what it is.
I don’t think he intended his post to be about facts, just his opinion

I’ve been saying it for a few months now - what exactly is our coaching staff doing with the players day after day. We certainly don’t see anything new from set plays or any quick and effective movement that creates space and gets our opponents on their back foot.

The way the team has been performing lately the coaches staff should take some responsibility.

I pose the question that maybe they are the root of the current poor inept performances.

I just think it shows with a team set up to not lose games instead of setting the team up to go for the win. When key players are not there to bail out the managers suspect tactics out we often drop points.

but the defensive set up allows us to get draws. 3-5-2 with Palmer and Johnson often become a 5-3-2 then we have a vaulks or Bakinson in a midfield 3 we are effectively playing 6 defenders.

For me we either switch to a 4-4-2 or we bring in some attacking wing backs. Palmer has 1 assist in 20 games, Johnson has 2 in 20 games but both are defensively good.

Johnson isn't defensively good. He has a tenancy to leave gaps, either as a result of failing to read the game or just not being fussed about tracking back.

He gets in the team because he can shoot and cross occasionally.

The fact is we have kept a lot of clean sheets with him in the team, he this season has added very little in the attacking half for me we really need a wing back to be attacking first.

That's true of Windass, but surely you don't think he's great defensively.

Though doesn't the manager organise what coaching staff should have the players working on and generally oversee training sessions to evaluate players ??. That said I've been an advocate of us maybe instead of increasing the squad using a proportion of the funds on better or some specialist coaches ,somone who can teach them to remember Thier shooting boots for example lol
