Blip or Steady decline?

Blip or Steady Decline?

  1. 1. We've only scored 1 goal in the last 3 games and dropped 6 points in the process. Is this evidence that we're going backwards or nothing more than a temporary glitch while we have key players out injured?

    • just a blip (don't panic!)

    • steady decline (we're doomed!)

You're level of entitlement is obviously the reason behind your unrealistic expectations and therefore why you spend all day every day chastising the manager

There's absolutely no way that thinking we should beat Fleetwood FFS and Port Vale should be unrealistic. Where do we want to be?

Any other thought process is capitulism.

Pick a system to play .

Keep a  settled side as far as injuries allow.

Start games with a a proper tempo.

Play with attacking intent and try and win the game instead of trying not to lose it.

At this level let the opposites worry about us.

= automatic promotion imo.

It's not rocket science.

It may well be just `some people' whose expectations are result based. Most posters are more concerned about the level of performances against very very average and poor sides. The Exeter managers comments after the game were spot on.

The Exeters managers comments after the game were so removed from reality it was laughable

And it's crap like this blaming the fans in a season where were are on the cusp of automatics without playing to our potential yet...boooooooo the seasons over get the cyanide tabs out 🤣 🤣

“Cusp of” “in touch with” all the old cliches from last season coming out loving it. Lol  Let me ask you this, do you think we as a team are attack minded enough? Do you think a lone striker is the  correct tactic? What about slow play and playing it out through the thirds?

You think we have to give Div 3 defenders and GK that extra time?

Or instead put them under pressure(like they do us) and see the inevitable errors that come?

Really down to opinions,  I just think mines spot and yours is far removed from reality. Yeah we really bossed that game.

Like Man Utd in 1991 and Arsenal in 2015 'should' have beaten us you mean, just to mention a couple of our more famous cup exploits?

If football results were determined according to the 'expected outcomes' laid out in a spreadsheet as at a given point in time, then there'd be no need for the teams or supporters to turn up at all. In the real world surprises happen, if they didn't football would simply die. That's why you can think that we 'should' beat certain teams, but there are no guarantees.

It's a ridiculous contradiction to hope that we might pull off an unexpected result but then be totally incapable of accepting that we might sometimes lose to a supposedly 'lesser' team. Realism means accepting that even the best teams won't win every single game, and to expect them to do so whilst playing champagne football from start to finish is just a completely unrealistic fantasy.

Blip

and on the spectrum of blips, it's not even a big blip

silly overreaction by some of our fans this week

I don't think it's a blip at all. We have been playing the same way all season even in those games where we scored well. There are countless times when we should have been punished for sloppy passing, when playing out from the back, but our opponents failed to score even the simplest chances. That's League One quality for you. There are countless numbers of times when our frowards try an impossible shot, often when a team mate is better placed, simply to gift the ball to our opponents. But Hey... that's League One Football. That's it we are a League One team with League One players playing League one football.  Get used to that and you will enjoy it much more If we get promoted.

Stats again - if you watched the game for the full 97 minutes, few could argue that Exeter were the better side on the day.

They weren't.

We were the better team in the first half; they were the better team in the second half.

We created the better chances.

To be fair people saying 'cusp of' and 'in touch with' last season were referencing the playoffs and they were proved right as we did make them.

I expect the same to be true this time for the automatics.

It started with autos, than we are in the play off positions, than as we didn’t remain(initially) in a play off position, did we than see our ambitions lowered, and the multiple cliches come trotting out.

Why not just have a go? Move Windass to impact sub, start with 2 strikers 352 play direct NOT through the thirds(football snobbery & dogma) and give it to third rate third Division defences

We have ups and downs in a season

All clubs do

Is the way to play our way out of the “downs” to play one up front? A tactic I said I thought Darren would start with this season

l was WRONG but he does appear to have favoured it again hasn’t he? With Smith(17  league goals 8 cup goals last Year) on the bench with Gregory 3 in 3 b4 being dropped

Such things simply don’t add up & the fans can see it
