@owlstalk
This is a really interesting point 10 players coming up to contract expiry next summer That could mean a total refresh of the squad in reality https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/in-pictures-10-sheffield-wednesday-players-out-of-contract-in-six-months-could-agree-precontracts-from-next-week-3959730 1 Owlstalk Shop
NeonLeon
To be fair if we don’t go up this season you’d be looking at starting fresh anyway. Obviously there’s 4-5 on there you’d want to keep regardless. But the older heads on the list probably need moving on if we’re unsuccessful again this year.
TrickyTrev
We’ve see multiple signings coming into the club last summer and the summer before. I think a level of continuity is needed now, I’m not sure the upheaval of another squad revamp is what the club will need in the summer. All that said however, I do feel like a lot of those players would be surplus to requirements at Hillsborough this summer. Stockdale - I wanted to see Dawson as number 1 this season and I still feel the same way. I think given Stockdale’s age and the fact that Dawson is more than capable, I’d let him go (especially if we go up) Palmer - Deserves a new deal. Mr consistent. Hunt - Was decent last year and has only been kept out of the side by the excellent Palmer. Dependant on money involved he’s be worth keeping for another year as cover. Johnson - Overall I’ve been disappointed with him (especially this season). I’d let him go. Adenarin - Decent player but he’s no good to us if he’s always in the treatment room. I’d let him go. Iorfa - Nowhere near the player he was before his injury. I’d let him go. Brown - Not good enough whatever level we find ourselves at next season. FDB - Worth another deal but he really needs to make his mind up whether he’s signing or not. We can’t hang around forever. Paterson - I actually like him but think for both the club and player, a move might suit both parties. Gregory - Worth another year whether we go up or stay down.
FattyOwl72
They should all be gone bar Palmer and possibly Gregory. None will be good enough in the Championship and if we find ourselves still in D1 then Moore needs to be gone and a new man will want the flexibility to bring in his own players.
BOOFABI
Can we just skip the formalities and give Palmer and indefinite contract?
paulrs
Palmer and FDB I’d be trying to keep regardless of what division we end up in. Everyone else I’d let go regardless of what division we end up in.

We'll be starting fresh either way next season. Either Moore takes us up and We'll need better players the Championship, Or he doesn't and the new manager will want his own players.

shandypants
Offer deals to: Palmer - he’s the archetypical model pro FDB - we need to stop good youngsters leaving for little or no fee Stockdale - if only to teach other players “gamesmanship”. You are joking right ? There are a few on there I would let go regardless of what happens at the end of the season........in fact I would actively look to offload in January if possible.

The other possible would be iorfa. Rest I'd get rid.
Pablo Bonvin
Is it just me or do we seem to have to have a clear out at the end of every season with a majority new team the following one. Surely this needs to stop if we’re to progress?
royalowlisback
Hunt nowhere near the 1st team, even when Palmer moves to Centre Back, Iorfa 'plays' there. I think Paterson may get in front of him at the moment too.
royalowlisback
We also still don't seemed to have learnt about signing older players with little or no resale value. Whoever is in charge next season, is going to have to deal with a clear-out and an aging squad.
asteener1867
Palmer, shown he can cope in The championship FDB..daft as it sounds I would rather keep him cos I have an awful feeling he would immediately fire for someone else Iorfa. beginning to look steadier, but not what he was Gregory would deffo keep him Paterson..Let him go and thanks
kristmace
I'd release the lot other than Palmer and FDB. Will be sad to see LG go but he'll be 35 next season and he hasn't set the world alight so far this year.
prowl
Who gets a new deal depends on whether we get promotion or not. What we need in this division is totally different to our requirements as a Championship team. I'd let Hunt go. Whenever he's played it looks like his legs have gone and his footballing brain too. He needs to drop a division if he wants to play on. Stockdale can possibly get a new deal if he is ok being understudy. Paterson is ok at this level but not above, he is on big wages so would need to take a big wage cut to be worth keeping. FDB is off whether we offer a deal or not. If he wanted a deal he would have signed by now. Palmer is good enough to keep even in the division above, as is Gregory. Brown, release. I think he's half decent but if Moore won't give him a chance there's no point keeping him. The rest will have to prove their worth between now and the end of the season if they want a new deal, assuming we stay in this division. If we go up I don't think they have shown enough. WimJunk
Some ageing limbs amongst that lot. We need to be careful not to keep too many players "on the turn", which has held the club back for over two decades.
sMacLean
Only Dele-Bashiru worth keeping whichever division we end up in, Palmer worth a year if we don't go up.

A 32 year old Palmer and a 35 year old Gregory in the Championship? Yikes.
