LISTEN: New episode of the Owls Heaven podcast with guest Jon McClure!

Recommended Posts

Hi all -- thanks for the feedback on episode one of Owls Heaven which featured Barry Bannan.

Episode 2 is now live with special guest Jon McClure from the Reverend and the Makers joining Rob and Joe!

He talks about the gift of some lovely beads given to him by Carlos Carvalhal 👀 plus all of Sheffield's music royalty who follow the Owls are in a big Whatsapp group -- from the Arctic Monkeys to Pulp & Self Esteem

It was a great laugh putting it together and I think you'll love this episode! Apologies in advance for Rob's singing 😬

Will this be available on the BBC Sounds app? Tried searching but can only find Football heaven and Blades heaven

It will be soon available wherever you get your podcasts, plus the BBC Sounds app! The first few episodes are considered a pilot but once everything is cleared, it'll be available via the RSS feed and will join Blades Heaven on the app.

thank you! What length would you like these to be ideally?

Here's my personal opinion on this one to throw into the mix

I consume podcasts literally most of the day and every night

If a podcast was 20 minutes I'd not really bother as it'd be too short to bother with - which in itself sounds weird but I consider Podcasts to be a long form format?

For me an hour is great

Two hours is too much (unless it's worthwhile of course)

I subscribe to a few tech / mac podcasts who sometimes do two and half hours and it's overkill

I also subscribe to things like Marc Maron and Richard Herring and they have it about right

Well I'm probably a unique case as I listen to all the Owls podcast whilst I'm playing Fifa as Sheffield Wednesday so I listen to maybe 6 hours of podcasts a week and could easily listen to more, I'd say maybe aim for 1-2 hours? Would be interesting if as well as interviewing people you also chat between yourselves discussing the usual types of topics, performances, results, players, transfer targets, news etc. etc. I realise of course as journalists you need to keep to a certain neutrality of opinion shall we say, you can't spend 30 mins ranting at how poor a certain lcb/lwb/lb/lm/lw has been this season and that he desperately needs dropping as soon as we have a replacement, etc. 😉
