Dawson

Recommended Posts

Jos ruined him and Wildsmith when he cast Westwood to the dark side stating Dawson was the better of the 3. Always thought Wildsmith and Dawson were great prospects but not ready for the no 1 spot. Derby have benefitted from this and Dawson is now proving ready to step up. Another season behind Westwood would have benefited 1 and a loan for the other. This season we would have then had them both battling for no 1

Did some good saves in the first half. Didn’t miss anything in the air and his distribution was good.

No pleasing some fans. He will make mistakes in the future, all keepers do at this level. I hope you don’t feel a need to get carried away then either.

Saved a 1 on 1 straight at him and fluffed a soft shot second half which McGuiness luckily cleared the rebound off the line.

I genuinely hope he goes on to be the greatest keeper in our history, but I'll keep my feet firmly on the ground.

Should be No1 for sure moving forwards.

Proved everyone wrong today.

Not sure I agree.   It was Dawson's day today, earned us a point at the end and pleased for him, but if that lad had not skied it from 6 yards then Daws would be getting flak for a really poor parry straight to their attacker in the build up.

It was better than Stockdale managed with a shot from much further out last week.

That said, I do think Stockdale will be back in goal in a few games.

Agree with that mate. My preference is Stockdale, I like the guy, but Dawson deserves a 10 or 15 game run now he's got the shirt. We can't be changing our keeper every 5 minutes.

Stockdale is much more comfortable (often too comfortable) in possession than Dawson, so I can see him going back to Stockdale at some point due to that.

Got to agree, we did neither Joe or Cam any favours by not giving them loan moves to find their feet in professional football

the fact that wildsmith went on loan to alfreton and  barnsley and dawson to wycombe ,plymouth  alfreton ,chesterfield and exeter  doesnt sway you that we did them  no favours

Always risky dropping your no.1 goalkeeper.

Hopefully it doesn’t come back to haunt Moore.

Playing his number 1 goalie at Exeter haunted Moore.

Completely understandable he gave Dawson a chance after that, and he's taken his chance.

If Dawson doesn't play well, Stockdale comes back in.

Of all the question marks around the manager at the moment this isn't one of them, good on him for making that decision today.

Rather him than Stockdale who I’m sure was signed because he’s a bit of a belter when it comes to time wasting. Otherwise he’s an average goalie who is over the hill.

We needed a goalie and Stockdale was obtainable.

Dawson had a great time at Exeter but I can't remember any clamour for him to be our number one.

Stockdale is experienced, has played at a higher level and suits Moore's playing style. It's a bit of a no brainer.

Having said that it was a howler last week and Moore was right to give Dawson a go today.
