Owlabroad2001
Can’t rate all the players as I only listened in and didn’t watch. Sounded like we had three good players in Bannan, Iorfa and Smith. Possibly Johnson too, for the two assists. Everyone else was poo.
wakefieldowl
Smith....easy. Wilkes and mighten worry me though. Neither can perform against 4th tier teams so neither should be near our first team. Darren only use these 2 when they show hunger desire and capability. Its like playing with a man short

Nero
From OMDT Dawson – Made a decent save and ok distribution. But noticeable again that his saves dont go out of play. - 6.5 Hunt – Unfortunate to catch a virus that made him forget how to play football. The worst of several terrible cup performances recently. Sad times Jack.- 2 Palmer OK in centre of a 4 but was the difference when left of a three. Great ball inside for first goal. 7.5 Ihiekwe – Bit hit n miss but generally defended well. Worrying injury – 6.5. Johnson – Excellent all game but when they tired he was too good for them at wide left in the 352. Get Mighten out of his way – Neymarv is back – 8 Vaulks - Part of the undynamic duo with FDB. Square or back. Square or back. Athletic. Got in the way of them sometimes. Not great though – 5 Dele-Bashiru – No good as a no. 6 in a deep midfield 2. Doesnt recycle quickly enough and just wants to prove how strong he is . Liberated a bit when Bannan came on. 5 Paterson – Was Patterson - 5. Mighten – Did his best and kept going. Got done a couple of times in the first 10 but sorted it out. Was well-marked- 5.5 Wilks – Didnt get much good service but when he did he wasted it. I like him but he’s not on it. – 4 Gregory – Ineffective in general. Missed a decent chance in the 2nd half. Not easy playing as a 1 in a 4231. - 5 Subs Bannan - Created space and fear. Had a feyt - 7 Smith – God honest centre forward play. Good time to come on – they had blown up – 7.5 McGuinness – na In general i thought some of the players were let down by the system Moore chose today. Watching it live it was a shambles tactically for the first 15. FDB and Vaulks are our least compatible players in centre mid. The wide players got poor ball quite often and rarely turned them. Hunt shouldn’t be playing. Paterson as a roving no. 10 was a predictable failure. To be fair its a 90 minute game and the switch to 352 changed the game. Mansfield did well, except in front of goal. They are also experts at falling over. They had gone at 65 mins though. Very pleasing to shut their fans up and we await our fait.

We've all seen this week that International players can be inconsistent so why can't some fans accept that of league 1 players? Aren't we supposed to have the best squad in the league yet constantly reading posts that some of our players simply aren't good enough for the 1st team.

Still nowhere near our first 11 IMO. I’d not be disappointed if he went back in jan 10

legendaryswan
Dawson -6 did ok, just lacks authority in his box Hunt - 4 heaven knows why we resigned him, offered little Palmer -5 hes ok as cb in a back 3, but in two his lack of ariel ability is exposed Ihiekwe -6 defended well but was very exposed Johnson -7 looked way better upfield against average opposition Vaulks -6 defensively he did ok had few forward options to pass to Dele-Bashiru -5 PSV his agents having a laugh more like dpd delivering parcels, he was poor for the large part of the game Wilks -4 at times he look like hes seeing a football for the 1st time, he just runs into trouble and cant see a way out but keeps going Mighten -5 needs to play with his head up so he can see whats on and use the options Paterson -5 all effort but poor execution Gregory -5 isolated and starved of any quality to profit from, unsurprisingly snatched at the one chance that came his way

OwlerIT2
Dawson 6 Hunt 4 Ihekwe 6 Palmer 6 Johnson 7 Vaulks 6 FDB 6 Mighten 4 Mr Wilks 3 Paterson 3 Gregory 5 Iorfa 6 Smith 8 Bannan 7 Hunt has not recovered so shouldn't be even close to starting, Wilks currently offers nothing and doesn't even make up for it in workrate. Probably just lazy! Hope we only signed up until the summer to easily offload. Midfield looked disjointed Why not try Shipman from the start, at least he would have probably given more energy. Poor all round until the cavalry saved us. Just ss dull as watching England Friday, but people will still say a win is a win, who cares about entertaining the customers ? SbkOwl
Thought Johnson was poor until the two assists. Hunts gone, had plenty of chances in first half to get down the line but didn’t. Vaulks and FDB were very poor in CM, not impressed at all with Mighten and Wilks, if they can’t do it against a 4th division side, when are they going to do it? Wilks looked like he wanted to wrestle more than play football. Smith and Bannan changed game when they came on. Should we really need to bring them on to beat Mansfield who have been in poor form and were battered at Harrogate 3-0 last week? Bannan needs to stay fit if we have any chance of automatic!
Screen Door Slams
Dawson - 6 No real dramas Hunt - 4 Looks shot , poor bloke Palmer - 6 Ok ish Ihiekwe - 5.5 A bit edgy Johnson - 6.5 better in a 3-5-2 like the all the rest Mighten - 5 More miss than hit so far, would look to return in Jan if there is no significant improvement Vaulks - 6 See Palmer FDB - 4 Dare I say it , he looks like someone who has already decided he is off Wilks - 3 Dreadful , no sign of even remotely improving Paterson - 4 try to move on in Jan.........1 good display in 5 just about covers his time with us Gregory - 5.5 Starved of service but still under par Bannan - 7 Iorfa - 6 Smith - 7.5 Thank heavens Pleased to have progressed after what was overall a really, really poor display.
