SWFC backed for promotion

Recommended Posts

EFL pundit and former Sheffield Wednesday player Clinton Morrison has revealed that the Owls are his strongest contenders for promotion this season despite being critical of their performance in their 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town.

Defender Mark McGuinness was the match-winner at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon, sealing a 1-0 victory for Darren Moore’s side.

Morrison, though, was not impressed by his former club’s performance in the match, although, despite this, he did stress some positives.

On ITV’s EFL highlights programme, via The Star, he said: “I don’t think the performance was good. I’ve seen Sheffield Wednesday many times this season.”

“I think the players would say it is not about the performance though, it is about getting the three points.

“These games last season Sheffield Wednesday might have only drawn or lost it. It’s a great ball in by Barry Bannan, McGuinness with a superb header into the far corner.

“He [Darren Moore] probably won’t be happy with the performance but he’ll be happy with the result and that is the main thing.

“Sheffield Wednesday are my strongest contenders to get promoted this season.”

Does anyone think Clinton Morrisson knows ANYTHING about football?

Nice guy but if you're looking for thoughtful, intelligent analysis there's dozens, even on here, that could do it better.

Don't knock him...  he's just been saying on the BBC sport website that Argentina need a goal...  it was the 95th minute...  he knows his stuff ya know.
