I remember leaving work one day; it was the day Taylor's England squad for an upcoming international was being announced. All the talk was of whether or not Warhurst was going to be part of it. Got to Liverpool Street Station, bought the Standard and the back page headline just simply said "He's in!" Was amazing to think that this was about a Wednesday player who was, at the time, the best striker in the land.

 

Of course, sod's law....he got injured and missed the call up. And I don't think he was ever considered again.
