Moore and our defence

Watched with some interest at our summer signings as I always do. 
some good signings in there but not enough defensive signings. 
Moore was a centre half you wud think he would specialise in this area. 
Our lack of central defence signings is alarming. There’s still time I know but….

He’s signed 3 centre backs so far, so more than any other position. Harsh to tell him he’s not focused enough on that area

Quantity rather than quality with our signings this season imo.

I just don’t understand the entitlement of some of our fans. Our centerbacks are likely the highest paid collection of CB’s in the league and they’re not good enough/we don’t have enough??? 
 

Have some of our base only supported us since chansiri? Have they forgotten decades of hurt and not having a pot to wizz in?? 
 

I wonder how teams like Accrington get a whole 11 out on the cost of what Dean would be earning and how they compete.

Complacent is how I see it tbh Not entitlement…..keep hearing ‘it’s one match’ It’s 2 SEASONS don’t you mean? With the same recurring issue over and over and with Sat 3  goals given away to not dealing (again) with a cross into the box.

Apparently they’ve got some winger guy who ripped the opposition a new one on Saturday.

 

There were about 150 tweets extolling his virtues and saying he is the explosive, energetic winger they’ve been crying out for who was ghosting past defenders like they didn’t exist, and could be the player they’ve been looking for that could make their season.

 

I heard a rumour, not sure of its validity,  but apparently his previous club played him in any position other than his favoured one and subsequently their fans reckon he was garbage.

 

i find it a bit far fetched. As if any manager in this day and age would play a player like this so badly out of position.

When you have good players but they make silly mistakes.

 

Then you need to look:-

 

Do the players have the right attitude?

 

Are they being coached correctly?

 

or controversially would they play a lot better in a different formation?

 

i suspect we have good players but expecting them to play a 3-5-2, where they play out from the back and have wing backs that are not defensively tight may be the issue.

 

on Saturday Johnson was out of position for every one of the goals conceded, all 3 were carbon copies. Was it him at fault, or the centre backs for not heading the crosses clear?

Even taking into account our bad patch we had the 4th best defence in the league last season. Are people expecting us to conceded no goals at all apart from worldies? I mean, that would be nice, but it would also be nice if Charlize Theron was mu girlfriend.

 

(This is not about Saturday, when we should have done better)

That’s my issue 

 

5-3-2 is all well and good when you’re attacking, but defensively Moore hasn’t grasped it imo

 

If we lose the ball on half way with Johnson and Hunt in an advanced position it can leave the back 3 exposed, stretched and outnumbered, and as we saw on Saturday it can end up making good defenders look like clowns
