Our Strikers

Recommended Posts

Looking good but we need at least one more up there . 5 subs and injuries etc + rotation . I know we are looking and hopefully get one over the line soon. All it takes is smith to get injured and we’re down to windass and Gregory with Paterson on the bench for example

Got to agree we need one more forward, one of those three picks up an injury were down to two strikers playing two games a week its not ideal.

Good to see positivity 👍

Personally i haven't seen anything yet to suggest that these players naturally fit together. For instance none of them look for the pass to a better placed colleague, particularly Windass.

Being a striker these days is also about stopping the defence playing out. Pressing at the right time. Are they any good at that collectively?

Interesting to see how this goes.

Smith has barely played in pre season was carrying a knock up to the last game then played 10 minutes.

Gregory when fit scored us 17 goals but only played the full 90 on 19 occasions out of 46 games.

i suspect if we dont get someone in soon we are going to be seeing too much of the useless Paterson up front.

I heard yesterday that Lewis Grabbin is still a free agent, scored 12 in 32 last season and at 34 fits into DM recruitment policy.

I have no insider knowledge, but I am sure that we'll have another striker on our books before the Saturday game.

Question is just, who will it be?

Roofe and wilks linked but you never know .

could be someone out of the blue .
Jerry yates !

If you consider our attacking options, as opposed to simply our strikers, we have lost 5 from last season and so far replaced them with one plus hopefully a fully fit Windass

Gone:

Kamberi

Sow

Berahino

Shodipo

Theo/NML

Arrived:

Smith

5 subs this season - we still need at least 2 more attacking options for me.

SOW is still with us no?

I think a fully fit Windass will tear this division up once he's got an understanding with Smith.I think 2 out of the 3 being switched around most games away from home, then can see us playing all 3 in some home games with Sow and cameo rolls.Sow did actually show some nice glimpses last season he can play.Agree need some pace tho out wide mix it up a bit.

Sow is as bad as Berahino……the sooner we confirm his departure the better

I think a lot of people will be disappointed with Smith and are expecting him to be better than what he is.

He averages 1 in 4 in his career and whilst he may be decent as a plan b for us, he isn't in the same league as Gregory as an all round player.

He scored one more goal last season than Madine scored for us in a season he missed 3 months.

I can't see Smith being any different to what Nuhui was for us. Rotherham suited his strengths last season, we won't.

Interesting to see how this goes.

It has been that way for decades.

The best that I can recall was Ian Rush..I used to tell the forwards "Get the ball back asap and you dont have to run as far".

Unfortunately I agree with this.

Some games will suit smith and if we play him in the correct games he will be an asset. Unfortunately I don’t think moore will do this.

We need another Striker and another attacking player asap. If we spend too much time relying on what we have I think people will be disappointed.
