He’s a 10. His best performances last season was his first start against Wycombe at home where he scored. He played just behind Gregory & Kamberi and was a persistent nuisance.

The problem is Bannan excelled so much as the 10 in the second half of the season, that it’s now become a bit of a conundrum.

Looking through several threads it’s clear that Windass is highly thought of but there’s much debate about his role.

Given that we play 352, where should he play?

We effectively play 3-4-1-2 most of the time I'd put windass in the 1 role and play bannan with vaulks as the 2 in  CM

In my opinion he’s an attacking midfielder, so I would have him competing with Bannan for the number 10 role. Basically meaning, he’ll be a sub.

I have him starting as sub too, but I think he’s the next best option up front after Smith & Gregory so likely to be coming on as direct replacement for one of those  or as a mid-game switch of system.

Considering he doesn't get in the team ahead of Bannan in that attacking midfield role, he needs to make.one of of the two forward positions his own.

I do like him as a player, but needs to be more disciplined. Cannot drift around the pitch as much as he does because that leaves us short of numbers in the box.

I want him to play on the shoulder of the defender, run the channels and be in and around the box more often.

why is it a conundrum. Bannan was immense there last season so you keep him there.

I like Windass however if he isn’t better than other players at our disposal, in their natural position, he starts as sub.

Great option from the bench

There is no way Windass is a midfielder

So for me he has to battle it out with Gregory and Smith to start.

There will be games that will have Smith, Gregory and Windass on at the same time but I think he starts on the Bench

Him and Patterson are hard to find places for and maybe a move away would be best for both parties

It depends on the opposition and how Moore sees their strengths and weaknesses, doesn't it?

I can't see Windass being used as a wingback, so he'll be an option in the front two or tucking in behind them on occasions, I'd imagine.

Of course, if we do manage to land Wilks or someone similar, then we may see Windass used as a wide forward in certain games, too.

His flexibility could be a real asset this season.

Conundrum of fitting him in the team.

He certainly doesn’t make my starting 11.

I'd play him in a front 2,seeing as we only have 4 forwards if you count Windass as a forward(never been a midfielder like some people are saying)either for Smith or preferably Gregory, which then leaves us 2 forwards on bench to bring on when needed..

Sow,Gregory, Smith and Windass...I hope Windass and Smith click quick or we could be in poo poo..but they are my front 2 all day long..IMO..

You wouldn’t start Gregory?

I think you have to start 2 out of 4 and I'd definitely start Windass with 1 other..Obviously Smith or Gregory,me personally I'd go with Smith for a few games,we know how Gregory and Windass play already.

Surely can't start Gregory, Smith and Windass(maybe at home sometimes)and just have Sow as back up off bench.?

We are short of at least 1 forward maybe even 2 if they play WB too..imo..I'd have kept Berihino truth be told if we had no replacement.
