What Plans do we have for these two players

Recommended Posts

Djed Spence 21 year old right back given playing time at Boro before a season loan. Signed by Spurs for £12.5m with £7.5m of add ons.

Scott Twine 23 year old forward, break through season at MK Dons signs for Burnley for £4m.

Jack Rudoni 21 year old attacking midfielder, 2 full season at Wimbledon, just signed for £1m to Huddersfield town

3 examples of young players being given game time to cement a place in the team and earning their club valuable transfer fees after having good seasons.

Would it hurt to give Hunt a run of 10 games playing central midfield with Bannan, Byers, Vaulk around him he will come on a lot more than playing for the development team.

i understand its the managers choice but at no point has any youth player got a chance to stake a claim other than Brennan and that was only after playing a right back, left winger and midfielder out of position.

He did that badly the club offered him a 2.5 year deal. But then got dropped from the match day squad so the crock from Everton could get game time.

A bit of difference in quality between our two and the lads you mentioned.

How do we know, we never give our youth a chance to develop in the first team. We bring other teams youth in but never give our own any chances.

Well said.

Absolutely no reason not to give Galvin a run at LCB start of this season

Lets say Boro last season thought the same with Spence not good enough for their first team he can stay in the development squad.

he would not have gone to forest, got promotion with the n and definitely not have been on Spurs radar or made Boro £12.5m +

Why would you play a full back at Centre back that what we did with Palmer and we saw how that ended last season.

But converting a full back into an attacking full back/ wingback could be the natural progression for him. With the caveat he could still play full back if we switch to a flat back 4.

If you think our two are worthy of a regular first team place then god help us.

Who do you drop to give him a run if 10 games??

it’s not that simple is it!! Moore would get pelters he gave either a run of games and they didn’t perform…that said I’m sure that if anyone thought they were good enough they would be in the squad.

Bazza isn't getting any younger ,so For me with the extra subs now there's no reason if we're a couple of goals up we can't rest him in games were in control of and give the likes of fizz or hunt a good 30-40 mins of game time off the bench regularly. Hopefully it will help them improve and keep Bazza fresher.

We need to start giving youth a chance or how do you know.

Neither of them have shown enough when they do get minutes, to be able to stake a serious claim in my eyes.

Squad has got too much strength in depth and we aren't in the right position as a club to gamble throwing in young players, where all the evidence points to them not being good enough.

Loan them out till Xmas, and reassess then.

With Galvin we could make him Johnons understudy ,get him training with him and give him minutes time off the bench . The wingback position is one of those less crucial ones where a lapse in consent ration or a mistake is less likely to be punished .

We compete in a 46 game league season + 3 cup competitions. Potentially a 49 game league season if you finish in the play-offs and get to Wembley.

Our squad looks decent at the minute and we've done well with our recruitment, but we're not injury or suspension proof, and we will need to rotate. If they show enough in training, there will be minutes available for Hunt and Galvin.

With Hunt in particular, he's got the opportunity to play at League One level alongside players like Bannan, Vaulks and Byers. It's a fantastic learning opportunity for him - if the management think he's good enough to take it.

Hes been playing LCB for the under 23's for 6 months. He (from what i have seen of him) is more in the defensive mould of full back so could quite easily play left of a back 3. Obviously different standards but like Ben Davies at Spurs, Left Back but now plays a LCH.

Wing back is a more attacking role than its ever been and in James and Johnson i think we have 2 perfect candidates there.
