A fan favourite whilst here, a very inconsistent player but when he was on form, he was unplayable, where in the pecking does an inform Jermaine Johnson place in our best ever players? Top 20?

Top 200 at a push! Would he even make any squad that played in the top tier? Highly doubtful, so that puts him behind squads of at least 66 seasons.

Top 200 at a push? I'm on about when he was inform, not how he was the other 40 games.

Without his pace he would not even be semi professional at best, 1 good game in 10.

Like by the fans but completely useless.

Along with Forestieri and Antonio he’s the only player in this millennium who was able to get you out your seat.

Unfortunately you also had to duck 75% of the time.

I remember a goal in the cup against Hereford where he took the ball on the bounce on the half way line, and dribbled it bouncing totally out of control all the way to the penalty area and smashed it home. Summed him up.

Players like JJ wouldn’t play for our club if they wasn’t inconsistent

but he is one of a handful of players since we dropped out of the premier league that no matter how he was playing or who we was playing you

always had confidence he could make something happen and get you off of your seat

Our current squad is crying out for JJ that pace up top and if he was on the bench you would always feel you could get something out of the game even if your losing at half time

for all is inconsistencies he was a shining light for the best part of a decade where we was garbage

he probably got me through those awful years

i'd  go with that ...very hit or miss but never less than exciting when he went off on a run .

His record in local derbys was interesting. He got sent off against Toytown, Dingles and the pigs ( and he had left the pitch) 🤣

I liked JJ, one of the few players since we were in the PL who was genuinely exciting.

Even on form would he play in the top tier? I'd suggest no. I loved him for those 10 minutes every 10 games where he looked like he could take on any second tier full back and smash one in the top corner.

He was exciting to watch at times. Out of the last 22 years one of a handful that could get you off your a*se when watching.

However, yes, top 200 at a push. Just because we've been sh*t for 20 odd years doesn't automatically we were for the other 130 and thereby the players in those 130 years

It’s hard to put him in the top players for top  quality as he played in a league one championship yo yo team

however for players of the time and what he brought to the team I think in his period a for a decent sustained period too ( we’re not just speaking about a one season or two season wonder here ) I think he can be recognised  as a player certainly of his time

I’m pretty sure he played with players like

whelan, brunt, kenwyn Jones. ( briefly ) All good players that went on to have solid top flight careers

but even then you could see JJ had a quality and contribution they couldn’t bring ( maybe Jones tbf but he played something like 13 games )

what did JJ give us 7/8 seasons?

It was like the JJ era he gave us something other teams didn’t have he was always the danger man and the player other teams took note of

I bit like this being the bannan era

when I look back at JJ my thoughts are I know his flaws but still I wish we had a player like him now I always think there’s a place for a player like him

maybe a poor mans Forestieri or Di canio but never a dull moment when he was playing and always a sense Of optimism

Yeah sometimes you’d wonder how he was a professional footballer but you could also expect him to single handedly rip teams to bits and they couldn’t handle him

And he won us more points that he cost us

imagine how poor we would have been without him during that period

The passage of time makes the memory play tricks

I loved JJ, he lived around the corner from me, my son adored him because if he was out playing football when JJ came home, JJ would tackle the kids then set off running up Wadsley Park Village with half a dozen kids chasing him

My wife cooked Salt fish and Ackee for him a few times

JJ was great for relieving pressure on the back four because he would carry the ball up the pitch and give the defenders a breather

But if my memory serves me, he usually only started playing in January when his contract was due to expire

He scored some memorable goals in his time here

And when he set off on one of those mazy runs, he got people on the edge of his seat

I was always concerned he might one day run out on to Penistone Road and get hit by a car

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.
