Derby Signings

Recommended Posts

I see Derby and Rangers are now interested in signing a lad from Northampton. Who Northampton turned down a fee for in January. Im just curious how Derby are able to pay fees for players after nearly going out on business a month ago. Yet when we got relegated after EFL intervention we was banned from paying fees and only able to sign free transfers or loans. Seems like double standards.

Wasn't the Derby fan who posts on here saying they're limited to freebies? Might have read it wrong though. I don't think they've paid a fee for anyone yet, just wages. Which won't be cheap, but hey, they've got money now so it's all good.

We have been limited to just free agents and loans and if we do,pay a fee this window the fans do need to demand answers because theyve royally shafted the tax payer and the small businesses around Derby

I wont defend the club if they start doing that because its utterly sickening and its something we bashed Leicester for

No probs latemodel

Im not going to deny we were a disgrace under Mel Morris, the arrigance and our total disregard for the rules that so many clubs adhere to (Barnsley a nuce example), only to then see us doing what we did and then screwing over the tax payers to boot.

yes we served a punishment but another oart of it is to abide to a business plan and accept resrictions, accept its going to be a while before can actually spend anything on fees, and also start repairing our reputation amongst other clubs.

Our new owner has at least started off well and isnt here for the media limelight so thats a start at least

Im still a little suspicious about the wages of Hourihane, Chester and Mcgoldrick though. Because its a little suss theyve come here on the limited wages we’re allowed to pay.

Out of curiosity do you know what the limit on wages is?

Like you say (if you believe the rumours) Hourihane was on about £40k at Villa last season, would be a hell of a drop even to Reading's limit of £8.5k from last season.

I suppose what you don't want is clear the decks to start again but then make the same mistakes that got you in this mess to start with.

Surely Derby aren't paying £8.5k a week to anyone? Creditors must be seething. As a taxpayer I'm seething. I'll soon look like a seethe! (2 points for the programme that comes from)

Theres no we arent oaying less than 15k a week for Hourihane though

Huddersfield were in for him and they offered him a good contract and he chose to drop another league for us sorry Im not buying this “Im here for the challenge” rubbish, hes 31 and is thinking about his returement, hes got to be earning more than 20k a week surely?

Same with Chester and to a lesser degree McGoldrick as well, theres just no way theyre willing to drop down a league for less money whem they had offers elsewhere

you can see the frustration from clubs in this league, the only defence is at least we have a good fanbase and merch sales etc, but under the plan weve signed its clearly not adding in wages we can offer.

Things like this are a bit close to the bone when it comes to Wednesday.  People were actually warning of problems when we bought Rhodes.

Football is all about money and like you say most of the players you have signed are close to retiring so there is no way they would drop down to League One on a restricted wage. Something just doesn't sit right. You should have been restricted to signing players from League One and below for this coming season

The whole system is as bent as a butchers hook, just look at Barcelona.

The Barca situation is mad. Have players at the club who they owe millions in wages and at the same time bringing players in for big money. It’s ridiculous!

Mighty Quinn

I was of the opinion this season we would be under a wage cap of say no more than 10k and possibly deducted those 3 points. the punishment we got last seasin was about right, although it should have been the EFL deducting the whole 21 points for the rule breaking not the silly admin deduction.

Yes we still havent spent a fee bit theres rumours if we sell Knight the club can reinvest it on the playing squad... absolute joke that, the Knight miney should be going to the creditors and small businesses we as a club owe money to.

it does stink but thats football land today for you, utterly pathetic.
