Is the SWFC strike force strong enough to get promoted?

Recommended Posts

Rubbish likeness of Smith.

Answer - probably not.

We need one more out and out striker to cover for Smith or Gregory.

I think/hope Windass will be used off the bench. He’s not a striker.

I think Paterson will be used very occasionally up top.

From the squad last year we’ve lost Kamberi, Berahino, NML, Shodipo and John-Jules

Realise 2 of these were injured most of the time but we’ve only brought in a replacement for Kamberi

I’d like to see a penalty box striker and 2 wide / number 10 type forwards

However I’m expecting 1 permanent and 1 loan in up front

One more striker needed.

If Sow and Paterson were regular starters ( which is very doubtful) they would get double figures. Windass would score plenty also. I think we are okay, maybe a loanee as back up.

The addition of Smith could be massive, as he opens up more options than we had last year.

We can use him in a pairing alongside Gregory or Windass depending on the needs of each game, or we can use him as a lone forward with the likes of Windass and Wilks (if he signs) flanking him in a 4-2-3-1.

There's not much strength in depth there, though. Clearly another forward or two feature on Moore's wishlist.

Yep Windass couldn't score or assist last season.

What were his goal per game stats?

I thought Paterson’s goals return last season was poor considering his efforts the previous season in the championship.

Sow probably did ok for the minutes he played. It’s hard to say whether he’d do better if he was a regular in the team. Still expecting him to leave before the end of this window.

I'd like us to bring in Wilks as a replacement for Mendez-Laing. Other than that there is enough quality there to get us up.

I see Smith being the replacement for Berahino in terms of goals produced not style of play. Don't think we need to replace Kamberi tbh

A goal every 91 minutes in the league; a direct goal involvement every 41 minutes.

I really don't get this desire to pigeonhole every player into one role or another.

Windass is more than capable of being effective in a variety of roles at this level.
