Truly horrible news

My thoughts and prayers go out to Paul and his family

We lost a niece 5 years ago who we were very close to, we used to take her and her brother with us on holiday, she was 33 when she died, not a day goes by when we don't think of her

Losing your child shouldn't happen, no parent should have to go through that

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

As a father, I cannot imagine the pain that Paul and his family are currently going through. It is tragic. I hope in time they will all find as much peace as is possible, and look back with smiles and laughter.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

That's so heartbreaking

I know at times like this words can feel so inadequate but just massive best wishes to Paul and family - and of course his daughter

No words will do justice, desperately sad

haven’t seen myself, but told Barry Bannan has reached out to him

Hope Paul knows the Wednesday family are here for him and his family

What has happened as it does not say anything here?

I was wondering as well. You can only make assumptions. Obviously must be terrible news for him and his family.

I first met Paul many years ago at a pre season friendly v Mansfield. We'd both taken our young children who were running around together on the terrace. So obviously we have kids of a similar age in their 30s.

Can't even imagine being in the place where his family is now.
